Been raving about how their Food is divine! Jay told me, the Dishes all come from his Mother’s...authentic Recipes. This is the first time when going, months opened then. As I knew, Customer Service from Glenys and Jay would be and was. Jay comes and greets you too, love when Chefs do this. Is a rare personal quality shown in small sized Restaurants. The Chicken and Lamb Shoulder In Curries so so TENDER with fall apart! The FLAVOURS ARE DIVINE! The Kitchen is an open one where you see the individual Dishes during Preparation. My Friend commented on as a compliment! Also with Takeaway Orders, bring your own Containers. I love they are Environmentally Friendly. A Niche all need to follow, worldwide too. Thank you Glenys and Jay for the lovely Evening with your hospitality towards Diners!
Hungry for Indian we took a punt on trying somewhere local. At first they thought they were fully booked but then they let us know that they had space to squeeze us in. Located on a quiet suburban street in a small group of shops,...this is one of those places that you’d easily miss if you stick to the greater variety of options on Albany Hwy in Vic Park. Jay’s Masala is relatively small, probably only seats about and there was a large group which occupied about half the seats. You can see the owner, Jay, working in the kitchen and his daughter, Glennys, working front of house, which suits the size of the restaurant. The decor/set up is really friendly and inviting. The menu is also relatively small, which means that Jay can put the love into all his dishes. Based on T/A feedback we went with the Lamb Shoulder and Goat Curries, the Oven Roasted Vegetable Bake, Homemade Pickles, Papadums and Rice. Despite the restaurant being full it didn’t take long for our meals to arrive. I was surprised by the size quality of these home cooked meals. I’ve never tried Bangladeshi cuisine before. It packs all the intricate spice flavours but without being overwhelmed by hot chilli and I’m a big chilli fan. It was truly delicious and I’m now a convert as long as all Bangladeshi food is cooked with this much love and attention. Next time and believe me there will be a next time we will try the Pork Vindaloo. This is a real gem and I hate to spread the word of just how good it is much rather keep it a secret all to ourselves.
Last Saturday, when our friend had told us about it for ever. finally arranged to go and we are definitely not disappointed. from the moment we entered, we were so welcome. I love eating and unlike their usual curries....Service great too and will soon try again some more.
Definitiw a hidden gem. jays passion for cooking is obvious in every dish. I had the goat and she melted practically in my mouth. there were of us and everyone has slept. if they love Indian food, they must taste this little restaurant. we will. definitiw to be back.
Dining for three, one that doesn’t eat spicy food. The food was amazing. Two spicy dishes that satisfied the chilli crave and one dish that was out of this world, the taste of India without the heat. The venue is small, I’d advise a booking...if you’re looking to try this restaurant. There were quite a few turned away whilst we were there. Very efficient, warm and friendly people. We will be back. Thanks you!!
