Batavia Corner - East Victoria Park

Been here three times to try a variety of dishes before writing a comment. I agree with Bethany Goodall; how much you enjoy the food really depends on how well you order and what you order. I find the food ok in general. The tahu telor fantastik and satay sauce is nice. But not particularly drawn to any dish that makes me crave to come back for more. Had a mixed vegetables and tofu curry and was really expecting mixed vegetables. But the dish was mainly filled with bamboo shoots that it ended up being a bamboo shoot curry. Not very pleasing as the smell of bamboo shoot was just overpowering.

Surprised by this place, was expecting a lot more but was left with 1/4 dishes being great. Combination curry came out cold. Food was very traditional but felt it could of been a lot better... Friend had beef with a spicy style rice which was delicious, other than that everything else was underwhelming

I have been wanting to try this little spot for awhile now. We had spring rolls (crunchy), mi goreng (average), Nasi tek tek (amazing!) and chilli beef (pretty good). For $35 we were pretty happy. Our friends (Mo Loves Chilli) ordered the chicken satay (yum), duck (average) and a combination plate. I think it really depends on how well you order so good luck!

Batavia was brilliant Indonesian with lots of choice, located on the Albany Highway strip in Vic Park. The combination rice dishes seem great value for hungry solos or those wanting to sample many dishes. The nasi padang and nasi uduk complit were enjoyed by our friends. We shared gado gado and I had ayam bakar, whereas my partner had the ayam balado. Although it was labelled hot wasn't actually. Maybe they played it safe with Westerner heat. There were many a table who shared a feast. It was very busy, so book, and remember it is byo.

It has been a while since I last ate here. Tried Soto Ayam Ambengan, Tahu Telur, Ayam Kremes and Ayam Penyet. Pretty happy with the taste and definitely a good value. Will come back to try other dishes.
