The Triton Inn

I was really looking forward to trying the Sunday dinner at this restaurant, but unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed. The cutlery was dirty and the salt and pepper shakers, as well as the water bottles, were crooked on the table. The glass and brass areas of the doors were also dirty, and the overall appearance of the place looked worn out. The Sunday roast was drenched in gravy, making it soggy and almost inedible. The meat was tough and fatty. The roasted potatoes tasted like they had been precooked and reheated, and the dessert was bland and mushy. The cauliflower cheese side dish was almost cold, and the mustard flavor was overpowering. A dog that belonged to the staff kept running back and forth from the room next to our table, which was not very pleasant, and the staff's constant conversation behind our table was distracting. I was the one who recommended this place to my group, so I felt responsible for their disappointment as well. I definitely will not be returning to this restaurant.

We made a reservation for a party of 11 in the winter garden room and informed the chef that we needed our food orders quickly... everything seemed very promising at first. However, once we placed our orders, we were largely ignored. We had to track down a staff member for drinks and cutlery. Unfortunately, the wait staff seemed disinterested and it left us feeling quite frustrated. The food itself was flawless and definitely worth the price. We have dined at the bar before and have always been impressed, which is why we chose this restaurant to celebrate my father's birthday with our family. However, we were disappointed to see a service charge added at the end that we felt was not justified by the level of service we received. There are many other lovely dining options in the area that we will explore in the future, so unfortunately, we will not be returning. I now wish we had chosen a different venue for our family celebration.

The atmosphere at the restaurant was welcoming and the staff provided just the right amount of attention. The food was exceptional, as always. We were too full to try the desserts and cheese, but we enjoyed a few whiskies from the impressive selection. We are looking forward to returning.

The food at this restaurant was flawless. Our Sunday lunch was delicious and beautifully presented, enjoyed by everyone at the table. However, the experience was marred by extremely slow service. It took 20 minutes before our drinks order was taken, and we had been in the restaurant for over an hour before any food arrived. It's a shame because the decor and atmosphere are fantastic, and the food is excellent. The slow and inattentive service was the only downside.

Had a brilliant lunch with family. Staff were attentive and helpful. Food was delicious. Atmosphere was welcoming, warm and friendly.
