The meat pie and chips I had on my first visit seemed like they were from 2019, and the beef lasagna I ordered on my most recent visit was unrecognizable and lacked flavor, moisture, and heat. I asked for a quiche instead, which was dry but edible, although the pastry was hard enough to break teeth. When I asked if it was made in house, I was told it was, but the chef could use more training or should be let go based on the quality of the food. Stick to salads and sandwiches if you can't provide a decent hot meal. The serving staff were polite and offered a refund for the price difference, but the poor quality of the food is inexcusable. I wish I had taken a picture of the disappointing meal.
I was extremely disappointed with the service at this restaurant. My family and I stopped in for a cup of tea and cake, but one of the cake slices we ordered was rock hard and dry - completely inedible. When I politely asked for a refund on the slice (which cost nearly £4), they refused, claiming they didn't see anything wrong with it. I was appalled by the unprofessionalism and will not be returning.
I visited the restaurant today with my 21-year-old son. We had coffee and a scone before buying some garden plants. There was a long line at the checkout with a young man and a woman working the tills. Another woman was making drinks. As I waited in line, the woman at the till started to carry a tray with two drinks across the cafe. The drink maker shouted for her to bring the tray back, saying it wasn't their fault that she couldn't carry it. The people in line looked on in shock. This was a terrible attitude, especially considering that many of their customers are elderly. Whoever is in charge of that staff member needs to remind her that the customer is the one who pays her salary.
I have never been disappointed when eating here. Good selection of non meat meals, the coffees are always well prepared. Love the griddled vegetarian breakfast and vegan curry. As always run by a talented qualified chef, who is very involved with the running of the cafe, no wonder it is so popular.
Found a table and decided what we wanted. I went to order the food. We wanted tea with the meals so I asked if I could have tea for one BUT with 2 cups…(two pots is too much for us we only want a cup each) NOT ALLOWED, I was told. This is the first time this has happened to me.
