For the first time for a Sunday dinner here, no complaining . many good quality bark meat, vegetables were not cooked. the flower cauliflower cheese was good, but much too hot too much time in the microwave perhaps. only complain, the menu clearly says they get two yorkshire puddings, this is not the case. I should have complained.
The early Christmas lunch we had was outstanding. The freshly cooked food was excellent and the service was friendly. The location was amazing.
Decent quality breakfast at the Headlands, and ate it all. Very nice bacon, and perfect fried egg. I have to rate it down on the fact that the breakfasts don't have other optional extras like black pudding or hash browns and all come with chips. I like me chips not on a breakfast though. Tables weren't fully clean when we got there nice dollop of brown sauce was left on the menu and on the table. Some staff seem less attentive than others one particular girl seemed largely disinterested. The final point to note is a lot of people took dogs with them. I don’t mind dogs in pubs if they are quiet and well behaved, but at breakfast in more of a cafe type environment, they should be allowed only in a separate area, or not at all.
We were staying in a holiday rental just 100 yards from the Headlands Restaurant and Cafe Bar, so we decided to have lunch there one afternoon. The service was average and the food was decent, but the setup was more like a cafeteria style. There was no table service - you had to order drinks and food at a counter and receive a ticket with your number. This style wasn't really my preference, but I can see why they do it this way as they cater to a lot of visitors to the lighthouse and bird watchers, so they need to serve a large number of people every day. The prices were reasonable - not expensive, but not cheap either. The gammon steak was disappointingly small, but the chips were delicious.
