Sultan's Delight - East Lansing

This restaurant offers some of the best medieval cuisine in the Greater Lansing area. The food is outstanding, and their fresh vegetable and fruit juices and smoothies are delightful. The atmosphere is pleasant, featuring an open kitchen, and the establishment is very clean with a focus on healthy dining. I highly recommend it!

Big Med and Mid East Food is a regular stop for me, as I love to indulge in their daily specials. The Syrian cheese platter is absolutely delightful! I've yet to find anything I didn't enjoy. The falafel is perfectly fried, with a crispy outer shell and a burst of flavorful spices. The grilled deboned chicken is also a must-try. Don’t miss the lentil soup—it's creamy and delicious. For dessert, the pistachio and tiramisu gelato made from eggs, milk, and sugar is simply heavenly. I’m a huge fan of their baklava; it's wonderfully flaky and sweet. They not only excel at Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine but also make fantastic fritters. The service is consistently good, even though it’s not a traditional sit-down restaurant. Overall, I highly recommend this place!

Places like Harpers have a nice atmosphere but offer disappointing food, while El Azteco is tasty but can get overwhelming, and their chips seem fried in animal fat, making them less than healthy. Panchero's is decent, but it's not the easiest spot for a healthy meal. For a while, we frequented Potbelly because I could get a small sandwich and then head to Cold Stone, but small children often struggle with those sandwiches. Cosi is also good, likely due to the generous amounts of salt and fat in their dishes, yet we were going there even before Sultans opened. We used to visit Sushi Square occasionally, but it tends to be pricier and lacks room for our stroller. Then Sultans arrived, and it changed everything. I'm not sure how it compares to other establishments in the city, but their food is fantastic and on par with the best around. We typically order the shish kafta, chicken shawarma, falafel, and, of course, hummus. It's a healthier alternative than many options (though hummus isn’t exactly low-calorie, it is nutritious) and provides plenty of delicious vegetarian choices if that’s what you prefer. Plus, their chicken shawarma is perfectly cut for young children, making it easy for them to enjoy. They also serve incredible gelato here; while it may not rival Cold Stone, it certainly stands out. Their carrot cake gelato is especially delightful, tasting remarkably similar to actual carrot cake. The service is consistently good and friendly. What truly impresses me about Sultans is the decor. They've clearly invested in the aesthetics of the place—this is no hole-in-the-wall eatery. The tables are topped with granite, the floors are beautifully tiled, and the stylish decor is complemented by elegant glass pendant lights. It's almost too beautiful for the area! Lastly, the prices are very reasonable. Their Tuesday wraps are just $3, and most items are under $5. They also offer a fantastic shawarma salad for less than $5. Sultans has definitely won our hearts!

Great well valued food in downtown E Lansing although menu is not as extensive as its main branch on Haggadorn (and locals, while pleasant is not as atmospheric). You have great daily special offers. I prefer it to Woody's (probably Sultans Hummus). Your food always tastes fresh and is well prepared. Service is good, friendly fast.

I think this place is super delicious. Great options for vegans and vegetarians. There are cheap options and really good specials some days, and there's also meals around $6-$7. I've liked everything I've gotten there. I know the manager/owner somewhat, and he's a super nice guy and says he works almost 100 hours a week keeping the place in order, probably mostly because it's new. I think he deserves recognition for his hard work, because it's a well-rounded, delicious, and atmospheric joint with a nice location.
