The College Arms - East Hertfordshire

We made a reservation for a party of 10 for a special family dinner. The service was slow, but polite. It took two hours for our starters and mains to arrive. The starters were mediocre, with very small portions of calamari at a high cost, and the pork belly bites were overly fatty. The breaded chicken for the main course was flavorless and overcooked, leading to one meal being sent back. After our mains, we were asked to move to the bar due to a private party, which would have been nice to know before booking as we didn't want to relocate in the middle of our meal before dessert. Overall, we left the restaurant feeling disappointed and unlikely to return.

Just wanted to say a huge thank you to Giles, Elisia and Rebecca for the top class service they offered us yesterday. Went the extra mile to make sure my friend was happy. Thank you very much indeed.

It’s a lovely pub for drinks inside nice atmosphere. But it’s let down by the state of the garden. Could really go with some TLC and some new furniture. Then I’m sure it would be more popular and would get 5 stars from me

Came here for our anniversary meal. We were sat in the restaurant which was cold with no atmosphere... One other couple in there, who complained about their food. Her breaded chicken was slightly burnt and tough so she didn 't eat it. Not a good sign. We moved to the bar area which was better. I ordered 'crispy ' pork belly bites for the starter and not one part of it was crispy, there was also hardly any pork, 80% just jelly fat so I couldn 't eat it. We both ordered the prawn and crab linguine which was £17.50 each. Not impressed, the prawns were nicely cooked but it was very bland and a bit mushy. Ate most of it but only because we were starving by then. Very disappointed.

We went for lunch with another couple. Although the food was good, we thought it was on the expensive side. A very bad point is that there was no indication on the menu of prices for coffees or teas. However, our main criticism is that a service charge was automatically added to our bill, although there was no indication of this on the menu. I feel I want to decide whether to leave a tip or not. I don't like to be told to do so! I don't think we'll be going there again.
