Cafe Van Hage - East Hertfordshire

The coffee was good, but the price of nearly £20 for four pieces of cake was outrageous. As a result, we decided to leave without making a purchase.

I have never been a fan of VH cafe as I always found it to be an overpriced cafeteria, with its industrial appearance and uncomfortable seating. However, since Blue Diamond took over, it has become even more disappointing. There are unnecessary ordering rules, untrained staff, and worst of all, the new patisserie is not open on Sundays despite the doors being open and many confused customers walking in.

It takes ages queuing up separately for food then for drinks even though there aren’t that many people in the queues. The cafe is also very noisy.

I was visiting the garden centre and wanted to get something to eat so I visited there cafe. I had a drink and a sandwich which was very tasty. It was around 1pm and the cafe was not packed but busy. There were plenty of staff around dealing with customers and also clearing and cleaning tables. Well run operation.
