For my main course, I ordered jollof rice and waakye, both of which were very flavorful and slightly spicy. By default, the meal comes with fried chicken, mutton curry, a boiled egg, and fried fish. The portions are generous, allowing you to sample a little bit of everything, and each dish is delicious. I also tried a couple of drinks. The ginger lamurgreen drink tasted less like cola and more like a strong ginger herbal remedy—its intense ginger flavor has a bit of a burning sensation in the throat, reminiscent of herbal medicine. The Housa fura millet drink was quite different as well; it resembled a sweet congee in a bottle rather than a cola, and I found it more like a meal replacement drink.
I ordered jollof rice, peanut butter soup, and plantains from this restaurant. It was a great value, and the food was absolutely delicious! My aunt is Ghanaian, and I was really missing her peanut soup. This meal definitely helped satisfy that craving. I'll definitely be coming back for more!
I drove an hour just to visit this restaurant, and it was definitely worth the trip! I had the spinach stew with tomato stew meat, and it was absolutely delicious—definitely a chef's kiss moment! I loved it so much that I got a second plate to go. This time, I tried the okra stew, and it was amazing! I give it a solid 10/10!
I came across a previous review that described this place as "ghetto" and unsafe, which I feel is unfair. Yes, it might appear slightly intimidating at first glance and the customer service could use some improvement, but it feels similar to visiting your favorite Jamaican, Spanish, or halal spots in the area. Don’t let language barriers or cultural differences deter you from trying new restaurants.
