I 'm originally from New Mexico but have been living in North Carolina for 20+ years and I still receive the best red and green chile from New Mexico every year, because my chile and that flavor is important to me. I 've given so many local restaurants a fair chance to be 'reasonable ', but most are disappointing to me. Chipotle is okay for fast food, but so bland. Yesterday I had the chicken bowl at Zambrero and it was fantastic! The chicken had great flavor and reminded me of what I would make at home. I really love that they serve the meats from cast iron pots. That 's a nice touch. The other ingredients in the bowl pinto and black beans, rice, onion, corn, lettuce, tomato and really flavorful green chile were a nice complement to the overall flavor of the meal. The guacamole was good but I like a little more garlic in mine (just me). I will definitely go back to Zambrero to try other meals. Muy deliciosa!
Thoroughly enjoyed in our first visit, tried a chicken bowl, tacos, and a kid meal chicken ?. I am surprised that we wearn't knowing this hidden gem for so long time. They lack advertising or what, need to spread the word.My wife, who usually can't eat from chipotle gave this place a 5star! Will definitely go there again.
We got a bowl and burrito which were both fantastic, but even better was the single employee working today, on a Sunday, by herself because a coworker just quit. Even behind a mask I could tell she had a big smile and enjoyed her day. I didn’t catch her name, but she should be commended for awesome customer service! We will be back!
First time at a Zambrero's and we were so impressed. Fast food Mexican similar to Moe's where you go through a line to place your order and pick your toppings. I ordered the chicken bowl with jasmine rice and black beans. Portion sizes were generous. Lots of toppings which seemed very fresh. There appeared to be only two employees working and they were super sweet and efficient. Husband tried to order black rice but they were out. I love that this company donates a meal to Rise Against Hunger, one of my favorite non-profits, for every meal they sell.
The food here is bland and horrible, I don 't know how it has a 4.5. Once again, a restaurant in Durham making money off the fact that townies and college students don 't know any better, so they think this is good because it isn 't Taco Bell I guess. They have different stations of ingredients (beans, rice, veggies, etc) in dutch pots, somehow the burrito was cold. Rice was undercooked. And again, completely bland. This is not how we make this kind of food, this is a scam.Go to La Vaquita, or any other legit Latin restaurant in the Triangle. Don 't give money to phonies. Your taste buds and stomach will thank me.
