M Sushi - Durham

The vale was poor, but the food was mostly good. The service was excellent

Everything is amazing at M! There is no where in the Triangle that provides this unique experience and vibe and unbelievable quality every time

The uni with caviar on toasted oat levain is one of the finest morsels I’ve ever tasted. The grand omakase at per is a steal. You might be in little ol’ Durham NC but this place can run with the big dogs in LA, NY, Sydney where a tasting menu at some worn out Nobu will set you back twice that. I’ve had great sushi in the unlikeliest of places like Salt Lake City, Key West and Berlin even. So Durham, yeah, no joke. This chef is an outstanding talent

I normally give this place stars. We ordered the per person omakase prix fixe meal for the first time, and were disappointed. It started off with delicious salmon crudo and good nigiri, but they gave us crab salad instead of uni because they were out (I wish they had mentioned this before ordering). It was not good so I asked for seaweed salad instead. The lobster and Wagu courses were disappointing. I will for sure go back and eat here again as I love their sushi, but just not order the set menu
