Now under new management it offers good basic at a reasonable price.the newly decorated interior is clean and bright and the warm reception of the over worked serving lady really welcoming. At our recent lunch there were two choices, Pork, cooked in an excellent mustard sauce and served with a choice of vegetables, or salmon again with a vegetable choice all for €8.50 in mt book a bargain. For €11.50 there is a self service entree bar salads etc, sweets and cheese. This is not fine dinning but nor is the price, the food was hot and well prepared, generous quantity, and to my mind good value. There were a number of French artisans taking lunch there, always a good sign, and by 1230 potential dinners were being turned away because the house was full
Having recently changes ownership, I must say that this place has finally hit the level that was always expected of it. The new lunch menu is fantastic value for money and Duras is a great place to while away the afternoon. I've also had dinner at this venue and it was equally as fantastic as my lunch experience.
It more recommendable as a pub instead of a place to eat. But if you're there and need a quick lunch, it's ok. Food is ok, but very basic. If you like a nice (belgian) beer, this is definately the place to be in Duras. There is a very wide selection of beers available.Prices are low.Airconditioned room for dining available.
As a frequent visitor to Duras, I've been to L'Expression quite a few timles for drinks and the beer list is so wide-ranging that I found it difficult to make a choice. Then I decided to stop for lunch recently and what a disappointment. The interior has been greatly improved with the addition of a new dining area, but the food on offer was dismal. The set-price lunch at 11€ for two courses was a self-service buffet with only four items : fish salad, undressed pasta, cold, overcooked cauliflower and something else which was totally forgettable. and and a main course choice of skewer of grilled meats or hake. We chose the grilled meat brochette which came with either boiled-to-death green beans or flaccid chips and the meat, while reasonably edible, was carbonised on the outside. I had wanted the place to be so much better, but the standard of cooking was so under par, I won't be going back except for the beer. Service was fine and the young man who manages the place is pleasant, but what is happening in the kitchen?
