Limited menu, in my eyes is a good thing as they expect that quality is focused. after two cures came away...hungry- I am not a big chap, 5’ 9” 12 stone, normal appetit. my Posh puzzle cocktail was great, the crispy chicken wings of the skin, not crispy. their local chippy would be embarrassing to serve them the smallest piece of squid I've ever seen, I mean, come on apex, where is their quality control, don't want to repeat customers? coffee, what is so difficult to have a hot cup coffee? I returned it back as it was warm, the replacement was also warm, why not someone warm the cup, I like to enjoy my coffee in the free time, not gulp it down before it freezes. the waitress has the cost friendly discount, I spend a lot of time in edinburgh and I have to say I have a much better culinary experience there. they come apex, they sit down and put them dundee on the map. Oh, did I mention £9.50 for a glass house wine? I'll never tip when I get deducted from weeping costs. are we supposed to be?
We have dined here at apex the last weekend and the food and service were exceptional. first of all from the look of the Kovid control they were great, everything was very organized and controlled and we felt very comfortable to eat here. our server eilidh was beautiful. so attentive and friendly and really cared for us. we ate from a set menu that was 2 courses for about £17 if I remember correctly. I had served the smoked smoked Schellfisch-Ei-Starter, who was beautiful and so different, followed by a nice hot dish on a bed of dahl and sweet. my man has a milk allergy, so it is often a bit nerve wracking for him eating, but the menu was great for him and annie (before the house) made a special effort to ensure that he felt comfortable and fully understood his options. he had garlic mushrooms on toast for his starter (not on the menu, but the cook offered to care for everything he likes for his allergy), followed by the burger who was served on a homemade vegan brioch he said was a real tasty. our daughter had mozzarella sticks and fish chips (which was free really great worth eating with exceptional food and a really interesting menu. since I am peskatarian and my man has a food allergy, there were many options on the menu for both of us. recommend this restaurant, whether you live in the hotel!
Where should I start? starts with a phone call (2pm) asking if I still need my table for 2 around 7pm, not really how I booked a table of 3 and confirmed my booking confirmation 3 people. I didn't think a problem was really wrong, but...now they're aware that there are actually 3 people as a confirmation. we should be so happy, we arrive on time at 7 o'clock the host on the writing rushes to his colleague to get her place a chair on the temporary table for 2 (this table has been booked since over 2 weeks) we are placed on a table that can only be described as coffee table that does not fit to eat. the waitress comes then all I can say is that I have never met such an rude waitress, I can suspect that she finds an alternative career, since hospitable is clearly not her field. no person should ever feel at eating, we were sitting for 10 minutes they were asking us 4 times when we were ready to order, we ordered our drinks, as we felt, so rushed into order something, she then asked about our food order, we did not say quite ready for eating again, so she rolled her eyes down and just went and had a good old moan about us to her colleagues. that was that the camels returned for us. we decided to leave the manager we left, she asked us what the problem was and to be honest, she couldn't take care less.
I've picked up a few itison vouchers. eating was fab, cocktails delicious. I can't wait to come back. also love the new layout.
Had an early supper here on a wet Saturday night. Partner had pork and I had the plaice which was exceptional. Both are served with no garnish or sauce which is a little off putting. However I picked out a risotto and broccoli as veg...which were excellently cooked and very tasty. And the chips were the best. Only thing is the architecture of the room is big and cold. Doesn’t have a brasserie feel at all. Could have been eating in an airport terminal. I looked out at black rain streaked windows, reflected in the mirrors to my partner Not enough intimacy for dining. Whilst the furniture is smart it’s cold and not cosy and welcoming. There’s space to make some of it a lot more enclosed and private.
