This time, the cakes were all fruit-based, including apple with almonds, plum with dark chocolate drizzle, rhubarb with crumble topping, and mixed fruit with a crumb top. Unable to decide on just one, we were offered a taste of all four by the owner, Mirka. Each cake was delicious and clearly homemade using traditional Polish recipes. This restaurant is a hidden gem with a generous and welcoming owner.
I reside in Dumfries and was unaware of this fantastic cafe until now. I will definitely be returning frequently. The owner is a delightful Polish woman (she was extremely kind) and bakes all the cakes herself. We were unable to choose just one, so we ended up taking home a slice of each of the 6 cakes she had available. The baked cheesecake was absolutely divine, and the apple and cinnamon cake was the tastiest I've ever had. If you find yourself in Dumfries, I highly recommend making your visit memorable by stopping in for some cake. The coffee was also delicious, much better than what you would find at a chain cafe.
Your Sweet Home in Brooke Street might be difficult to find but worth the effort. The food is excellent with a Polish slant and the homemade cakes are outstanding
Our hostess was very friendly and accommodating. We all thoroughly enjoyed our lovely homemade soup and cakes. We even got half slices of different cakes so we could try them all! Parking wasn't a problem as there was plenty of street spaces available when I visited however this may not always be the case.
Excellent hospitality. Excellent food. We had broccoli soup, toasties and sandwiches. And don’t miss fantastic cakes. Not too sweet and we loved it.
