I approached the counter and nobody was there. I cried in the kitchen and heard? I have to take the bread out of the oven. Freshly made bread in the house, this place had culminated my interest. Just after a funeral came out. He took my order and was very friendly. We talked for a few minutes, I found out he was the owner. We talked about his business and where he comes from. What I was trying to find out is the cook's passion? He had it in spades. We talked about his philosophy about herbs and fresh ingredients. Almost everything locally. I was very excited to try the food. When I sat down to taste the food, it exceeded my expectations. This restaurant could raise a cold turkey sandwich. I don't like cold turkey sandwiches, I saw a soup and sandwich deal and wanted to try two things at the price of 1. The soup was delicious. Seasoned to perfection. I went with the two for under $10, in fact the whole menu was under $10. I will certainly return, I am excited to try the more complex elements on his menu.
Great place to stop and treat yourself to a beautiful lunch. Grilled sandwiches that are enhanced by unique flavor combinations and ingredients that are produced locally. Owners are so nice and attentive people, and I smile every time I eat here!
I'm a long-term customer of Toasty's! It is definitely one of the hidden restaurant gems of Duluth. I ordered the same sandwich for the last six years and it was always consistent, perfectly assembled, hot, tasty and overall, satisfied. Words do not do their justice for this hip spot (also from their old location to their new location). Hands down, one of the best places to grab a sandwich in Minnesota.
Food was great and friendly staff. Something had to wait, but it was a little more business than what the norm is normally. Fun to eat little upstairs. If the place is somewhere that wasn't the city centre of Duluth, I think the atmosphere would be much better.
Was not expecting the seating situation it feels like you're in a quiet little mall area. We sat upstairs and food was brought out to us, but it wasn't like a dine in experience moreso semi fast food. Delicious sandwich though! Wish there was other side options than plain chips.
