We were passing through Düsseldorf for half a day and saw they're known for their Japanese food, so we decided to check out Takumi! They have both indoor and outdoor seating available. AJITAMA TONKOTSU RAMEN: I'm a tonkotsu person and almost always order this over other types of ramen. Not sure if I was just so severely deprived of Asian food, but I felt Takumi's tonkotsu ramen ranked pretty high on my list! And coming from SoCal as well as having lived down the street from both major Japanese food hubs in Los Angeles, that's saying a lot! Good amount of pork, the noodles were cooked to the perfect texture, and the broth was rich without being overly salty. I don't usually enjoy other types of ramen so I can't speak for those items from their menu. But I slurped my entire bowl of tonkotsu ramen dry! KARAAGE: Large pieces with crispy exterior and super juicy interiors! I wasn't expecting much but in the end I was super happy we ordered this. Overall, amazing tonkotsu ramen located in Düsseldorf's Little Tokyo.
We had gone almost 2 weeks without asian food during our Europe trip, so when we heard Dusseldorf had a decent Japanese influenced area, we decided to try out Takumi. There's seating available indoors and outdoors, but our whole group got seated outside. We were lucky to have only waited 10 or so minutes, and just needed to split into smaller groups. The menu is fairly straight forward, with your varying ramens depending on your favorite soup base, and accompaniments of extra toppings. We ended up getting the Ajitama Miso Ramen and Half Karaage Don to share amongst two people. It was just enough for myself and my fiance. The Miso was a bit subtle for my taste, and the ramen was thinner than I prefer. The karaage was crispy, but I thought it was odd they included some Kimchi in the bowl. Overall, the warm soup was soothing to the soul, and was decent in terms of finding a ramen shop in the middle of Europe.
Came here based on the amazing reviews and frankly, the food was okay, but I am not sure about all the hype as I've had better ramen and definitely much better Tokutsu Ramen! There were 6 if us and we waited close to 50mins to get a table. Thank god for the heaters they had to keep us warm, although I was frozen cold by the time we got in. The place is more geared towards 4 and under so our party sat at the bar, near the open kitchen, and it was good of them to try to accommodate us to sit together. I got the Tonkutsu Ramen mit Lauchzwiebein €12.80) and also tasted the Vegetarian Ramen and the Takayoki. While everything tasted decent, it wasn't anything super spectacular. Also the salt levels were super high as felt incredibly thirsty afterwards. We got a side of extra vegetables and all it consisted of was cabbage and those store-bought yellow fried onions! I'm in no rush to come back. Yelp 248/ 2018
I've been a takumi customer for years and not even cheated that I've been used to waiting for what I think is part of the ritual of eating.
Beautiful personal, simple and inviting menu and fast service. for me as a vegetarian, there was only one dish to choose, but it was delicious.
