Food was large in quantity but the quality certainly did not suffer. Best vegetarian plate I have had in a while. Pork knuckles very large and tasty.
Visited here with my family after hearing rave reviews from some friends who were staying at the Holiday Inn Express with us. They recommended everything from the currywurst, to the pork knuckle, steak and black pudding so when we got to the restaurant we studied the menu and decided on the share platter so we could sample a bit of everything. A word of warning - come to this restaurant hungry! The platter says it's for two people but could easily feed four. Needless to say we hardly touched the sides of this dish (but did manage to taste a little bit of everything). The food is amazing. The meat is tender and falls off the bone. The crackling cooked to perfection. The sausages juicy. The schnitzel devine. All served with fries, buttery mash, vegetables and sauerkraut. I'm getting hungry just describing it.The pub also serves the famous local Alt Beer plus anything else you could want from a local European pub. All in all a fantastic dinner and I'm sure we'll be back next time we're in Düsseldorf. Enjoy!!!
Came here for a late meal, around 11pm, and was surprised in a few ways. It was a very large, beautiful place, with multiple rooms, and very comfortable and varied seating. Apparently they are also a brewery serving Altbier - it was good, not great, when compared to some others. The service was very quick and professional. The Sauerbraten with raisin sauce, soft and chewy Kartoffelkloesse (?) and Stewed Apples were fantastic! The plate looked incredible. The quality and flavors were fantastic. The beef was well-done yet tender, juicy, with deep flavor. The Kartoffelkloesse were perfect both for texture and being mildly flavored with such an intense sauce. I ate them with the Stewed Apples and it was a bright and contrasting compliment to the deep and intense, sauce. The raisin sauce was rich and dark, with a beautiful shimmer. It had a sweet and sour flavor which balanced its richness. I highly recommend this menu item. The Altbier was also a great compliment to this meal. A great meal, and many options and accommodations for probably any group.
The food here is amazing and authentic! Service was lovely and the beer tasty! Superb! Try the blood sausage with mash and apple! Delicious!
