When I took a drink from the cooler PET bottle), the saleswomen told me that I...am not allowed to drink that in house and that I would have to purchase a glass bottle, which of course is smaller, almost half the size, but much more expensive. Needless to say I did not like that rule. I would have been ok with a slight in house surcharge, although I would have questioned that as well. But forbidding me to drink the soft drink I wanted and that was on offer in the shop, was unacceptable and I left, not purchasing anything. Their rule cost them more than CHF and a customer. I will not return to any cafeterias from this chain.
The Dubendorf neighborhood is fortunate to have the Hotz Cafe. The place has a very nice assortment of chocolates, and an outstanding selection of pastries, fresh breads, sandwiches, hot/cold beverage, AYCE breakfast spreads, Eis, soups from LaZoupa, and more. Everything in their display cases looks...mouth so watering. There is an inside seating area of chairs and padded booths, but I would strongly suggest taking a seat on one of the lovely patio tables with umbrellas with a background of blooming flowers, shrubs and the levitat-ing water fountain flowing in the garden. One would certainly not end up here at Hotz unless you knew of the place as it is hidden within a quiet neighborhood. I had a small quiche tort and a lactose-free hot chocolate The quiche was fresh and delicious! My selection was also brought with a glass of water and biscotti from the wonderful staff. A bit of a journey to get here, but the place is impressive and worth a visit. There are lots of newspapers, the restrooms were spotless (offer cloth hand towels), limited parking, No Wi-Fi service. Highly recommended.
