We had already booked for last Friday, eight of us, so I was intrigued to see for myself. It was as good as ever, friendly, excellent service, superb food, all of it, place heaving with not an empty seat at 8.30 pm and that says a lot given there’s circa. 60 covers. Have to wonder if there are dark motives for these negative reviews, our experience was 10 out of 10 for everything. Look forward to returning.
I have been to this restaurant now for years, I went last month and it was awful, the food was so greasy. I have heard that its been taken over by new owners. The toilets was disgusting and there was an inch thick of dust on the dado rails around the room. I wont be going again
We have been going to this popular family restaurant for a few years and enjoy the food at every visit. Very pleasant welcome, good service, reasonably priced and good portions. Always a tasty evening and we leave in a happy and contented frame of mind. Best value is the banquet at £12 per head. Multiple choices with starters, mains and pudding. Licensed. Very extensive alternative menu should find something for everyone.
Travelling back to Lancashire from Poole we were ready for a meal and spotted the Emerald on the corner so turned around and went back: we were so pleased that we did because to our very pleasant surprise they offered the tea-time buffet referred to by others which looked like great value and saved the torture of having to decide what to order so in we went.We were warmly welcomed and shown to a table in a plain but clean dining area where there were, clearly, a number of local diners who we assumed went regularly so a good sign. We briefly scanned the menu, chose our mains and ordered a bottle of wine; it was so easy. The food arrived and we were not disappointed because everything was very tasty indeed. The starter portions were meagre and I would have like more ribs and seaweed especially but considering that we had already been given yuk sung, (also known as meat wool, meat floss, pork floss, beef floss, abon, pork sung is a dried meat product with a light and fluffy texture similar to coarse cotton, originating from China) which was delicious and then followed that with our mains with fried rice and chips then (fresh) pineapple fitters we couldn't complain.Overall it was a super, unexpected experience which was excellent in terms of taste and value; even the wine wasn't too expensive.I don't know when we will nect be travelling this way but when we do it will be the Emerald for us.
Went here for a 21st Birthday around 30 people. Food awful with rude staff. Lady taking the **** out of us when we were trying to get photos.
