After our seven course tasting and a few bottles of wine, we thought to close the meal with a cocktail and ask for six “Pornstar Martini’s”. What they served us was absolutely disgusting. It didn't look like what we demanded and it didn't taste like what we demanded. It was extremely bad to think of the bar staff that they could blur us so, instead of just being honest and saying either they did not know how to make it or did not have the ingredients, especially for a self-proclaimed “friendly, attentive service in a luxurious dining area”. We complained to our server that didn't seem too sharp to fix so the manager called. He may not have disturbed himself, as he was rude and offered us nothing for free to compensate for the sour taste that the evening has left open. Instead of leaving the restaurant after a nice evening, we left annoying to their satisfaction to take €1300 from us, but not the desire to solve a simple situation. Is a free round of drinks actually it costs something in the big scheme of things? This made me feel compelled to write this final negative review. You can and should really be better.
TastingMenu Negronis perfect wines good two snacks at the beginning: amazing bread excellent Thought we were wet for a great night Lobster and Kohlrabi Lobster and had much extracted from its taste, from was too long in a marinade or whatever. We ate in a number of Michelin one-star restaurants in Ireland and that was by far the best of them. In fact, it was the best meal we had in our weekly boat around Dublin and the Sunny South. All from the beautiful, creamy and imaginative chicken liver macaroons to the fabulous, thin cut beet tarts that envelope a delightful package of savory quality underneath. I must say that the presentation of the food has a very unusual direction in a very delightful and creative way that still left everything so appetizing that you would love to sink your fork into it as quickly as possible after you had surprised it. The service was impeccably timely and very attentive, with very attractive waiters descending on your table to explain the next delicious dish that originated from the lively kitchen. We loved this restaurant to bite, we took the seven course Glovers Classics and wish that we have a printed, lasting memory of the specific dishes we ate because any surprise dish that came before us more and more, why this restaurant deserves its star.
Great dinner at Glovers Alley last night. We had so much luck getting a table for a late dinner on the same day, very accommodating. Top service, great location and excellent food. Mathieu and his staff were very attentive, but they provided a relaxed and friendly service in the evening. Well balanced wine list, with some great classics, some cults and also some unique bottles from emerging wine growing areas. The tasting menu was just as close to perfection as you can get, great importance for flavors and balance. One of my top 5 culinary experiences ever, and my guess is that they will soon get a second star. Well done guys
Very disappointed with our night. Food was delicious, but the up selling of additions to the meal, the 25 euro on water when we weren't told the water was extra, nor asked if we wanted any extra was disgraceful and the noise level made for difficult conversation. Would not recommend as there are much better Michelin stared restaurants in Dublin. Overall not what we expected from an expensive night out.
