I believe I would have had a better dining experience if the restaurant was open. The sauce definitely tasted like a poutine sauce rather than gravy. The fries were hot and delicious.
Went there for lunch. Sat at the counter right in front of the kitchen. I had time to read an entire newspaper and nobody came to me to ask what I wanted to eat. There must have been 6 servers going in and out of the kitchen right in front of me. When my paper was finished, i just walked out and went elsewhere for lunch.
For more than 50 years, this restaurant has been a trusted destination for those seeking a taste of culture, history, and delicious cuisine. If you're looking to dine where the locals dine, look no further than this establishment.
Heard about the place from a local area friend. Decided to try the place out even though was worried my language skills would hurt me. Was served by a gentleman who lived previously in the states so had excellent English skills. The place is set as a late 1960s style diner. And was a car hop place apparently at one time by the sheltered parking. As they advertised themselves as the poutine inventor, decided to try the poutine trio. As one reviewer said, the first one isn't always the best, and will agree on the original, but with the trio I got, du chef made me wish I had heard about this place sooner. Definite on the go back list.
We went to Le Roy Jucep to try the original poutine. It did not disappoint! My husband and I each had the Poutine Originale (l’authentique), which we both thought was delicious. The cheese curds were fresh and the sauce was tasty. The service was friendly even though we don’t speak french very well. Enjoyed the diner style atmosphere. The bathroom was very clean.
