Lingnerterrassen - Dresden

If you are in Dresden for a few days venture out of town on the no 11 tram and find this elegant 'schloss' given to the city a century ago after the death of Mr Lingler who made a fortune in oral hygiene. Outside terraces lovely on a fine evening, but inside great too (we had drink outside with blankets round us provided) and good food.

Travelling Europe means a visit to Dresden without any doubt - thats what Fran & John told us. What a marvellous city and waht a great place to have dinner! A lovely summer evening, nice cold drinks and very tasty meals made verybody< feeling at home. Four days is just too short for a visit to this exciting and marvellous city!

Last Tuesday the Group Study Exchange Group of India arrived into Dresden as scheduled. We followed the program and visited several places of the city, which had not been flooded yet. For dinner we went uphill to the Lingner Terrassen, a beautiful restaurant in the "castle" of one of the most popular man called Karl August Lingner. He was one of the first specialist for production of antiseptica, the most popular beeing Odol.We enjoyed the offered cocktails and the tasty meals very much. The vegetarian and veganian variations of offered meals were brilliantly cooked and our guests really enjoyed the dinner well above the the banks of the river.

We had a couple of hours to spare and took the tram (no 11 Elbschlosser) for a wonderful vista of the city and the river. Wurst and Pils are helpfully on sale, didn't have time to go in the palace itself, maybe next time, but not on a Sunday I believe it is very busy.

Fantastic riverside spot set in stately grounds. Easy to reach via tram 11 from the old town. Self or full service Biergarten. Unbeatable especially when the good weather is with you. Don't miss the vines directly below the terrace.
