I grew up in tennessee, surrounded by south food and Kool-Aid, and all recipes were on place! the mixture of pork in garnel and grits was great. especially loved the desserts! my man and I both agree that our meals were too salty for the first time. that is completely normal for soul food, but still on the side too much. no idea whether it was only the luck of the day, but after that I started to ask her to simply take it on the salt with my order and it is always perfect! suggestions would be to add a side sampler plate because all sides looked good and it was hard to select only two (and would also be a good food choice for vegetarian! . and my top suggestion is to add some SOUL music to her. we found modern environment music as a strange choice. the setting of the atmosphere to match the food/back story would bring it to a completely new level! put some melodies of soul tunes on and that would be a south sky!
They win this place a try on a Saturday night and experienced amazing authentic soul food! they get a lot for their money and it's all delicious. super friendly staff and service. very appreciated the gluten-free options. they make their own dizzying (so good! and the soul sauce *che kissing* absolutely loved the black pork and cries, my man loved the fried chicken and golden pracht. the cook comes to serve them, it is very welcoming and personal. P.S. try the red drink!
One of the best places where I went for seafood. delicious fried chicken, amazing pommes and the pasta with cheese (because I forgot the name) was exceptional!
Super friendly staff. Meals cooked to order, so expect a bit of a wait. We enjoyed the food and had another meals' worth of leftovers that we took home. Be sure to ask for dominoes so the folks at your table can play the game while your food is being made.
Awesome shrimp and grits! Great atmosphere and delicious food. Loved that the owner came over to chat with us.
