Five Guys - Downers Grove

This was the first time I ever went to a five guys. Went 25 mins before closing, which I understand is pretty rude since I’ve worked in the food industry. The guy who took our order even made a comment about how it’s been a long day, to which in reply I left a tip. Paid close to $60 for 2 of the worst sandwiches I’ve ever had, incredibly salty and burnt fries, and two mediocre milkshakes. It was obvious they took out their anger on the fires.

Really long wait for your order comparing to other locations. French fries so salty that we throw out half of them also burgers by the time we got them were cold. I think they have something wrong with the sequence they preparing the orders. I've been in other locations and this is my first time that I got disappointed.

Not as good as it has been previously. They were out of BBQ sauce. Bagged our burgers without asking if we wanted something else. $30 for 2 single bacon cheeseburgers and 1 fry. Asked for fries well done. They were soggy and cold. I'll just go to steak and shake next time.

The idea of throwing an unusual and unmanageable amount of fries into the bag was always an illusion of generosity at $5 or more. The way you were SUPPOSED to do it is charge little for the fries but charge big for the burger. The price has stayed the same for the fries, but now they put substantially less in the bag in a slightly smaller bag. I love Five Guys and always have. This location has its moments… sometimes fresh, sometimes soggy tomatoes. My biggest complaint is that they close at 4pm. It made sense during the pandemic but it’s insane that they still can’t staff the night. This is the only place I know that closes that early.
