PR rice was terrible no flavor at all and I ordered a lechon Jibarito and they gave me steak but not a regular steak jibarito they put taco steak on it what is that about?? I’ve never heard of such a thing! Please do not claim to be authentic and then give someone not only the wrong food but some cheap steak meat and call if a day it was terrible and overpriced. Please people of your looking for authentic PR food go to Humbolt park/ Logan square somewhere in Chicago cause this place is not it!
The food was excellent! The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming, as well. I ordered the Jibarito sandwich combo, which was a large portion and had great-tasting garlic sauce. Compared to other Puerto Rican places in the city of Chicago and on the island where I lived, this is a great choice in the Suburbs! Comparatively excellent! ? I'll be back for sure!
Let’s be clear, for true Chicagoans- this is not our construct of a Jibarito. They use Swiss cheese… and I’ll leave it there. But for what it is, it’s delicious. The steak pieces are soft and flavorful. I appreciate that they offer vegetarian friendly Puerto Rican rice. That’s usually not an option at other places. I docked two stars for price x value.
It is my first time to try their jibarito sandwich and it is quite good. It is just basically a steak sandwich the difference is that the bread of it is fried plantain. At first look I seriously did not like it that much because I am used on eating the usual sandwiches with bread but when I tasted it, I realized it was not that bad and it was actually good. The plantain is crispy on the outside and a bit soft in the inside, the steak has a nice portion and it was flavorful and the veggies on it was fresh. I like the mango fruit drink but I wish it was a bit cooler. I was seated inside and it is clean and cozy. There are only few seats inside and they also have patio. The staff in here is warm and friendly to talked to. There are only a few options on their menu and the prices are fair and reasonable. I would probably return to have their jibarito again and there are only few spots like them and the food they have so I am also curious to try their other foods too.
My favorite restaurant. The food is always perfect. I've never had a better Cuban, jibarito, or yuca fries. Raquel, the head chef and owner, and her husband Dave are kind, wonderful people.
