When we were returning after a sight seeing, we told the driver to takes us to a good Punjabi dhaba, he took us here. The name is 'DELICACY DHABA ' which is about 200 meters away from the Gam 's Delicacy restaurant and opposite to Baalaji temple on the hifgh way. The restaurant has many cottages type, adjacent to each other, each air conditioned separately, with individual wash basins. We were told this was a bar cum restaurant earlier. Now it is painted fresh and upgraded for families. We had Panner butter masala and butter chicken with tandoori Rotis which were fresh and hot. We enjoyed our lunch here. 3 families in two rooms)
I must say, this restaurant serves the most delicious butter chicken. I have tried this dish at many different places throughout the country, but none of them compare to this one. The gravy was rich and tasted like authentic Punjabi chicken. The lachcha paratha I had with the chicken was also excellent. The prices were very reasonable.
I had been carving for Dhaba food for quiet sometime since I had come to Guwahati. Couple of places recommended to me were not upto the mark. Got to know of this place on internet. The place does not disappoint. Food was good and the best part is you could get real hot tandoori rotis. We had snacks as well as main course. The food is rustic in nature. They have a number of bamboo huts where you can dine peacefully. And if you need to call the waiter, just press the bell. Earmarked with real fast service. The Dhaba is only open upto 10 PM. It used to serve alcohol but does not now after the supreme court ruling. It is a family place with ample car parking facility. You have a central dining area also where you can watch television. Overall an experience well remembered.
If you enjoy non-vegetarian Punjabi cuisine, you should definitely visit this dhaba. However, if you are hoping to try Northeastern food, you may be disappointed. The food quality and ambience of the dhaba are excellent. Be sure to try the signature dish, duck khasa, during your visit.
