I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant. The service was slow and I had to go to the bar to get a menu. The steaks were tough and unappetizing, and even when I got a replacement, it was only average. Flies were buzzing around my plate, which made me lose my appetite. The only redeeming factor was the replacement steak, but even that I would only get to go. Overall, this was one of the worst steak dinners I have ever had, especially considering it was at a roadside restaurant. I would not return.
The ribeye steak and shrimp dinner at this restaurant was fantastic. I highly recommend trying it. However, please note that it may not always be available, so be sure to check Charlie's menu or give them a call to find out when the ribeye steak dinner will be offered. You can also take it to go. I visited this restaurant on a Sunday afternoon after kayaking. The dining area was almost empty with only two couples seated. Unfortunately, they did not have menus or drinks available. There were five people at the bar, as well as the bartender and a few employees, but none of them approached the restaurant area to assist us. One customer mentioned that you need a lot of patience to eat there. The decor was outdated, reminiscent of the early 1970s, and the surfaces were covered in dust. There were also numerous dead bugs on the windowsills. As for the food and service, I cannot comment as we were ignored by the staff for seventeen minutes before deciding to leave and dine at Applebee's on S. Cedar instead. Will we return to this restaurant? Absolutely not.
Wait staff deliberately ignores you unless you're at the bar. Food is frozen and canned. Owner is cheap and can't keep the help. On the plus side, there's plenty of parking cause no one stays for long.
