When we arrived, we found the big parking lot almost full. they had a jubilee reception, whose participants just arrived. we feared that no table would be available as we were not reserved, but the friendly waiter said we would be very welcome if we were not disturbing the noise level when the party began. the cheval blanc offers a plate du jour, several menus as well as a few à la carte dishes. my wive chose the braided deenleber with a delicious sweet water sauce made of melone, ingwer (I believe) and various other ingredients while I had the plate du jour, which was a vol-au event with a delicious kalbs ragout in a creamy sauce, served with excellent homemade spaetzle. the restaurant has a good selection of wine at the winery. the muskat we tried was a bit on the fertile side, but very well matched with the deenleber and the vol-au-vent did not hurt. despite the whole house the service was fast and friendly. the cheval blanc was an unforgettable experience!
I went there with my parents on a Sunday night and we came too late. over 30 minutes after our reservation. normally in france after 9 or 9.15 clock it is difficult to get a good service. they were very understanding and nice, and did not hurry. the personal is spectacular and they have made us feel at home. eating is amazing, and this restaurant should have some michelin stars. everything was perfect. they literally pampered us with cookies even after dessert. it is worth the ride, even if they do not live near. I highly recommend it. also dining room is huge, impeccable, and bathroom are also extremely clean. at the end of the evening the owner (mother of the chef) came to our table to thank us for the visit and said she would be happy again. really nice and warm service.
This is a family-run restaurant that offers a very high standard kitchen. the set menus are changed regularly and according to the season. all, even the brot is made to house, and the foie gras and terrine are excellent. we tried most restaurants. in the opposite, but this is by far our favorite.
It is frankly the best restaurant we can make next to the territory of belfort. Very excellent.
Pleasant evening spent with family, very good reception, excellent service, remarkable cuisine. I'm advising. Thank you.
