Golden River Restaurant - Didsbury

This use to be a great place to eat. But now way over priced and food quality not fit for animals never mind humans. Same owners and just can't figure out why you went from great to poor.

We use to go to this restaurant. but because of the service when it took 45 mins for them to place my order on my birthday. we quit going back. well after 4 years of not going there. we decided to go get takeout. as the restaurant we usually go to in town was closed. so we gave them a chance again. big mistake. the food tasted horrible. no pride in it. the prices have gone up alot since last time we had been there. we will never go back to eat there. 11.95 for plain fried rice is ridicules. and it was not good.

While I wouldn't categorize this as the BEST place I've had Chinese Food, it is still pretty good. My family has dined here a few times, and found most of the dishes to be tasty, and a decent value.My coworkers have had office lunch here a few times, and I have found their chop suey and Chicken balls to be some of our favorite dishes.They offer lunch specials, weekend buffet (haven't tried it yet), and several combo options for multiple diners.About my only complaint would be that some of the "dinner for X" combos have limited choices; I prefer the ones where you can choose your dishes from a select list of options, instead of each combo having a set menu. (Not everyone likes seafood, for instance, so we have to order a bigger or smaller dining package to avoid it, or individual menu dishes which add up to a greater expense.)

My family has eaten here a few times and found the service to be good, but the food to be poor. Greasy, overcooked and generally unappealing dishes... Would recommend trying The Green Bamboo down the street instead.

My wife and i have been going here a couple times a month fir 7 years. We go for the buffet because the price us right and the selection and food is good. We are suckers for the homemade white meat chicken balls. In any event it is a good meal for a good price. 3 plus stars.
