Jubei Japanese restaurant was my family's favorite restaurant during my teen years. I must say this place is filled up with a lot of good family memories. Even after Jubei had changed to Koshu, it wasn't as bad as now. Things have changed the past couple of times that I have visited. I will only focus on one thing for my review. To be sure I am fair. I went home after dinner last night and checked up on what a Nabeyaki Udon is. It is a hot udon noodle soup traditionally served in individual donabe (earthenware pot) or iron pots. The soup usually includes chicken, Kamaboko (fish cake), mushrooms, and vegetables such as spinach, long green onion (Negi), and carrots, along with udon. As you can see from my photo posted, there are only udon, mushrooms, and one piece of shrimp tempura. I am a fan of Nabeyaki udon, so I often order them when I visit any Japanese restaurant; often, they put an egg on top of the soup as well. No egg was spotted in my, but my sister and my dad's udon got eggs. However, the eggs are one-quarter the size of a boiled egg just added to the soup. I am not being picky with my food here, but it is not fair to ask a customer to pay 20 dollars for a plain udon with one shrimp tempura. I questioned why the udon was in a regular ramen bowl instead of a pot. The waiter replied that they had run out of the pot. I questioned why didn't I get an egg in the soup, his reply was they ran out of eggs. I was kind of speechless. The Nabeyaki udon is simply unacceptable. On a side note, my nephew's kids' meal teriyaki chicken pieces are raw inside. It was not safe to serve little kids uncooked meat. It is unfortunate for me to say that our family will not be coming back here again.
It has changed recently. The prices are higher and lots of favorites have disappeared off the menu. Dishes lacked flavor. When I go for sushi, I’d like sushi, not hot Cheetos. It always has a pleasant atmosphere, but now paper prints of the food decorate the walls like a fast-food place.
Fantastic sushi restaurant!Food was great. I ordered the Tempura combination and it was so goood!Thank you Sushi Koshu!
Been in this place for its Chirashi bowl for almost 8 years (too long! , just pay a visit tonight and found out it changes its ownership 4 months ago. As we already sit down, so lets give it a try. Ordered a regular Chirashi and Chirashi delux, i dont want to comment on each fish, just highlight few as follow: Salmon ok Toro fishy Yellowtail very fishy Uni watery and bitter Rest soso, nothing special Price increased but not too overprice, but with this quality, i will never return for sure.
