The Congregation Detroit

Atmosphere is good. The place is amazing. I fell in love with the food and coffee, staff was good when i first visited this place 2 years ago. This place was first place in my mind when i wanted to have coffee and sandwiches. But in time i think they are limiting their options. Their menu is getting smaller. Food is more expensive, quality is much worse. The only thing that is decent there is the quish and im not even sure if they make that in house. And they don’t have speacial sauces, delicious sandwiches anymore. I don’t know what is going on with them. But i feel like this is the perfect example of corporate greed: i am sad because i feel like i’m losing my favorite place in Detroit. I’m sorry, my english is broken. I hope this place can go back to their good times!

The coffee over here is pretty good but the vibe is as chill as your favorite playlist. Grab a window seat, soak in the vibes, and pretend you're having a deep moment while sipping that artisanal cup of magic.So, if you're in Detroit and craving your coffee with a side of history, hit up this former-church-turned-coffee-sanctuary. It's not just coffee, it's a whole vibe.

Thought congregation would be a great place to bring my dog… the patio area was infested with wasps and got into all of my food and coffee, not to mention getting stung several times! They need to spray that area down or clearly shut it down until the season’s over. Paid $10 for a bagel that looked like it was from McDonalds. Had to leave after 10 minutes, just a very unpleasant experience. Coffee was good, food very overpriced for the quality.

I never leave reviews, but I felt that I needed to... Came with a few friends and brought my dog to sit on their patio. Got attacked by a swarm of hornets, and we all got stung! I had to leave after 10 minutes because we couldn't bring our doggie inside. We would've left dog at home if we knew the patio was uninhabitable.They need to do something to get rid of the wasps, or at least shut it down until they do. What if someone had allergies?Also paid way too much for an egg cheese bagel that kind of tasted like plastic. Felt like robbery, very disappointed :

Beautiful building. Delicious coffee drinks and good food. Friendly atmosphere. Definitely worth checking out. They did a great job converting an old church into something useful to help revive the community.
