Gilligan's On The Harbor - Destin

This was an excellent find while I was visiting the Destin, Florida area last weekend. I was looking for a place for lunch and I decided to search reviews thru yelp and Google. Based on my search of reviews I felt very comfortable with my lunch choice. This reason is conveniently located on highway 98 and has easy access whether you're traveling east or west. This restaurant has a HUGE parking lot and it can accommodate small and large vehicles. Upon entering I was greeted by a friendly and courteous staff. The restaurant was very clean and well maintained by the staff. The staff was wearing face masks and gloves. This restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating, which was nice considering we are dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic precautions. I decided to grab a shrimp poboy and I was very impressed with large portion of the shrimp. Overall I have to give them a 5 star rating because the customer service was very fast and the food was hot and was well seasoned. I will definitely try them again and will recommend them for friends and family members who want great experience and excellent seafood in the area.

Loved this place. I'm sad to report it's permanently closed. Their food was great and the harbor view, spectacular.

Ok, so I feel bad giving this place three stars because the employees were CRAZY friendly. Made me feel like I was the most important person on the planet, which was really nice. However, the food was just not great and that is being a little bit generous. The mac 'n cheese had no flavor. The green beans tasted like the mac 'n cheese, that is not a good thing. The hushpuppies were decent. The crab cake was really small and didn 't have a bunch of flavor. You kind of get the point of what you get at Gilligans. I ordered the triple burger, just because I wanted something that wasn 't fried. Whoops that was a mistake. The burger wasn 't great either. I will say the coke that I had wasn 't bad. :

Soggy grilled crab cakes. Tuna dip was good. Mac n cheese was old, green beans tasted canned. Husband 's shrimp tacos were rated a 3. Customer service was very friendly, but would def never go back.

A hidden GEM of a seafood joint in Destin, looks very hole in the wall from the front, but don 't turn around! Excellent fried and grilled shrimp, which are enormous by the way, but nothing too greasy! Very clean, speedy service that brings food right to your table. And the view was phenomenal. I was in a pasta mood so I got the fettuccine and I 'll definitely be coming back for more. If you 're looking for seafood without the crowds, this is the place. Will also mention their alcohol selection is great. Drive here. Search no more.
