George The Chili King - Des Moines

I can't wait to go back! I've been dining at this restaurant with my father for years. The chili is the best in town and the atmosphere is always fun!

Please reopen. I have been coming here since I was a child and have always loved it. The classic cars, delicious food, and legendary atmosphere are some of my favorite things about this place. I have many fond memories here, like when you could smoke inside when I was younger. I remember meeting and chatting with George Jr. (rest in peace), who made my favorite burger. It would be heartbreaking if Georges didn't return. I hope that his daughter (I believe she inherited the restaurant?) is able to keep it running.

I was just told that they were great. The staff took the time to explain everything.

I've been coming here for years and I'm never disappointed. come hungry because the portion sizes are great for the price and everything on the menu is delicious. I live 2 hours away and would like to make a trip down for the fat man especially. the experience of still getting carhop service is beautiful and the staff is friendly. who does not understand the atmosphere of george is obviously a noob.

Very nice waitress, very quick food, food was 4/5 but I was maybe expecting more chili than coney sauce for some reason. Still definitely would recommend trying once as it was a good quick bite!
