The Picnic Basket - Derbyshire Dales

We stopped at Ashbourne for lunch and noticed several workers outside this restaurant, which indicated that it must be popular. We ordered a Cajun chicken baguette, black pudding, and speck. Both dishes were fantastic with an abundance of melted cheese. We took our food to a picnic table in the park and enjoyed a delicious lunch. The price was great at £3.50.

During my vacation, I noticed a steady stream of vans gathering at this restaurant, which piqued my interest. I decided to try their bark, onion, and cheese baguette and was pleasantly surprised by the generous portion size. It was one of the best I've had. When I asked the staff for recommendations, they simply replied that everything on the menu is good. The restaurant has maintained strict food hygiene practices during the COVID-19 pandemic, allowing only one customer inside at a time and asking others to wait outside until their order is ready. Overall, the service was efficient and the wait time varied depending on the number of customers present.

I enjoyed my experience at this restaurant and chose it over other local establishments in the area. I ordered a bacon baguette to take home and found halfway through eating it that there was a foreign object in it. Some people may enjoy this unexpected addition, but it made me feel sick. Unfortunately, when we informed the staff about what happened, they did not offer a real apology or provide a refund. For those with allergies to white meat, the fact that the woman working there mentioned that they cook all meat in the same pan was concerning. Overall, I was shocked and will not be returning to this restaurant.

During our 2 weeks in Great Britain we had the best lunch at this beautiful place fresh and delicious! good portions and great prices. what a perfect place for a lunch. if the service is good and eating is nice, we give a small gift (a mini pair of Dutch wood shoes). you really deserved her!

The cobs and pasta boxes are amazing, the large can keep you going all day! Good pricing, people and great tasty food!
