The hotel is BEAUTIFULLY designed, with numerous welcoming amd tasteful sitting rooms, all with log fires burning discreetly. I can honestly say I don't think I've ever stayed at a hotel where the staff were more engaged, (genuinely) delightful, and caring. NOTHING was too much trouble and they seemed to anticipate our needs ahead of time! The Hive was a haven of calm amd peace. You could be totally self-sufficient (with the Butler Pantry kitchen included) or walk down to the hotel to eat beautiful food in the stunning glass restaurant (or be driven in a buggy). Well done everyone we'll definitely be back!
Had the most wonderful experience for our friends anniversary dinner in Sept. The welcome we received was amazing. The venue and the food was all absolutely spot on. We would definitely recommend to anyone who wants a premium experience but not extortionate prices. We loved it and hope to return for a Xmas celebration if we can. Thank you to all the team we encounter on Sept. You were all outstanding
Fantastic eating, service and environment. four of us came to lunch and we had a nice time. the location is beautiful, the hotel and restaurant is set to a very high standard and the service was perfect.
The restaurant is a beautiful environment in the modern part of the building, the menu is varied and on the high end of the price scale for the offered food. mains are £20 up, but do not contain pages at £5 per, i.e....Burger is £20 then add fries and they have £25 for burger and chips. quality was good, eating was ok, nice but nothing extraordinary, service was bad. I know people need to learn and train, but please don't spend £100 plus for a meal for two. brot not served, long wait to order, brot then served after the main, left on a table and forget about, watching a mom pair stand up and beth their own side! long wait time to delete the table, no one to check when we needed drinks etc. service fee added in the bill. not the best, as a result we eat elsewhere after this and a shame, as the hotel is excellent,
We had made a reservation three weeks in advance for afternoon tea to celebrate a special birthday with a party of three. Upon our arrival, we were informed by the staff that they needed to find a free table for us, despite the fact that they were aware of our booking. We were eventually seated at a table where the side plates were removed and we were given a large plate to eat our afternoon tea on. Our tea was served in black teapots, without a milk or sugar bowl in sight. I had to go to the bar to request milk, which was then brought in a glass as there were no pitchers available. We had to ask for side plates and spoons to accompany our tea, and were left with a saucer to eat our scones on as we did not want to ask for more plates. The presentation and attention to detail, key aspects of afternoon tea, were severely lacking at Callow Hall and not up to par with the standards set by the Duchess of Bedford when she first introduced the tradition. We felt neglected and unimportant, as we had to repeatedly ask for basic items. The food itself was excellent, but the service and overall experience left much to be desired. We left as three disappointed and disheartened customers.
