Bakewell Fish Fish And Chips

On a rainy day between Christmas and New Year's, my friends and I decided to visit Bakewell. As we walked past, the enticing smell led us to a restaurant where we were seated upstairs by a friendly man. The restaurant was impeccably clean, tidy, and well-organized. We ordered two small portions of fish and chips, which were just the right amount for us. The chips were delicious and not greasy, while the fish had a beautiful crispy batter and was the perfect size. The mushy peas were also lovely. We couldn't find any faults with the meal - it was not expensive yet the food was great. The service was excellent and the restaurant was very clean.

I was overcharged at this place. the fish and chips were not very nice either. the mushy peas were poured over the fish and chips instead of being served separately in a pot. i don’t recommend it.

We were starving after walking the monsal trail and decided we wanted some fish and chips whilst in Bakewell. I had done a bit of research a few days before and this seemed to be the best place for fish and chips. the establishment itself was clean and well presented, with the seating for sit in fish and chips being provided upstairs above the takeaway operation onj the ground floor. the big downside i would call all is that seating was somewhat tight, as such for a group of big lads like ourselves, we were a little on top of each other Vs. if a more spread out table was provided. The servers were young but friendly and professional and efficiently took out order. I had lemon sole and chips (excellent to see something a little different from the usual Cod and Haddock offerings in most places), my two friends had cod and chips and one of my friends ordered some extra curry sauce. the turn around time on this food was under 15 minuets and when the food arrived it was fresh and well presented. there was a slight mix up with the curry sauce coming out with my lemon sole rather than my friends cod as ordered, but it was in a separate dipping bowl so this was easily swapped over. The quality of the food was great, the fish was well fried with a crisp, clean batter. overall the firmness was a little more solid than a take away chip shop, but this was in a good way and not a negative. This chips were quite pale, me and my friend agreed they were a little anaemic, however this was not born out in the taste, which was excellent and overall these were excellent chips! Price wise my sole and chips was 15.99, but to have this quality of food in a sit down environment was good value for money. On the whole, recommended and I will aim to return always a good sign!

I had small fish chips takeaway , the fish was without doubt the worst piece of fish I had ever been served. It was totally grey and slimy and extremely smelly! Having walked to the river to eat , the whole lot went straight into a nearby bin . Disgusting !

Had takeaway haddock and chips. Cost £10.40. Fish was soggy and tasteless, I suspect frozen and probably not haddock based upon the size of the flakes. Chips were better than the fish, but the whole thing was very greasy. Not good value for money at all unfortunately
