Gatison - Derby

Real American food and excellent clean diner style atmosphere. Breakfast was served all day we had the corn beef hash which was homemade also along with with homemade raisin toast excellent eggs done perfectly and good coffee. Omelettes were pretty good also simple American food. They have a lunch and dinner menu ,prices were not outrageous. Waitress was very friendly the owners was there and he was friendly also. We will be happy to return to this new breakfast spot!

We had high expectations for Gatison's, but unfortunately, our breakfast experience was disappointing. The restaurant is clean, and the staff is friendly, with very reasonable prices. However, the food left much to be desired. I ordered hash and eggs, but the hash was incredibly greasy and the potatoes were almost burned. The poached eggs were overcooked as well. The toast was decent, but overall, it wasn't what we hoped for. Maybe lunch would be a better option?

After spending three days in Montreal, this diner felt like a warm welcome back home. While croissants, cheese, and wine are nice, nothing beats a hearty American meal! Although it's a bit of a drive off the highway, it's definitely worth it. I ordered the Reuben, and it was fantastic—thick slices of meat served with fries. My wife tried the turkey club and claimed it was the best she’s ever had, which is a big deal since that’s her go-to order at diners. My son had a burger that vanished so quickly I had to do a double take! Teenagers really do eat like they’re ravenous! My daughter opted for the chicken Caesar salad, and she gave it a thumbs up. The staff was incredibly friendly, and they even have an ice cream takeout window! I just wish this place were closer to home; I would come here all the time!

The food at this restaurant was fantastic! The homemade bread was particularly impressive. I would have given it a higher rating if the service had been quicker. On the day we visited, there was only one person in the kitchen and one waiter, which caused a delay in our food arriving—over an hour, in fact—while we were on our way to Canada. I would definitely consider going back, but I would check in advance about their staffing levels.
