New Golden House - Derby

I have visited this Chinese restaurant several times and have always enjoyed their high-quality food. We typically pre-order and it consistently arrives on time. While the portions may not be the most affordable, they are generous in size and taste. This place has become our favorite spot for Chinese cuisine.

I attempted to order a set meal over the phone and explained that I cannot eat rice, so I asked for noodles instead. I was told that they do not make alterations to their set menus at all. This was offensive to people with allergies, and as a chef, I know that noodles cost less than rice. I believe their set meals are premade and microwaved before being sent out. The staff was impolite and offensive, claiming to be a company but advertising as a family business. They should prioritize their local permanent residents over students, especially during Covid lockdowns. Trust me, they are making a big mistake by focusing on students this year.

Ordered from here a few times and never had a problem with the food, however on this occasion we ordered a 1.5l bottle of coke and received a 550ml one, to which we rang and complained and the woman (who was very nice on the phone) told me she 'd send a delivery man out ASAP, we waited half an hour and eventually received a call from the delivery driver saying he 'd be '12 minutes ', within 5 minutes he rang me shouting down the phone that i was wasting his time and he had other things to do! demanding to know which flat i was in (living in student accommodation i told him we would go down as he cant get past the barrier for security reasons). my boyfriend then ran down to get it only to be met with the delivery man shouting at him and swearing at him in polish (which he knows) handing him the coke and then walked away talking under his breath. the food here is lovely but the delivery customer service is appalling

Ordered spare ribs (plural) and got 'a ' spare rib...black pepper sauce was colour of tar and tasted the same... I 'm local and tried it when my my local Chinese is closed... I 'm willing to wait for Dragon express (mackworth , derby) to open and order on those days when I can get there food

I've heard mixed reviews from a lot of people but this Chinese is my favourite in Derby the food is delicious always delivered within the time given and if any problems staff are fantastic
