Really disappointing meal out with family. The food was awful and pretty much thrown down on the table. We’ll give this place a miss next time we’re in Ruthin.

After looking forward to a nice lunch at Ruthin Wetherspoon we opened the back entrance door and was nearly knocked back with the discusting smell of the area. I will not go in there again until it has a complete refit of carpet ect. It was sickening.

We stayed in the hotel as we were attending a wedding in the village. Staff were less than helpful between the hotel and restaurant. The reception was unmanned at arrival and bar staff where less than interested in this .. eventually we got the room only to find half drank bottle of water which I took took down to staff to request a fresh bottle, I heard the young lady refer to me as “that woman wants a bottle” to which I did interrupt politely and say we have literally just walked in the room and found that there was a lot of huffing and puffing from the young lad behind the bar and I was handed a bottle with no apology or anything. Very rude attitude. The breakfast the following morning was terrible it was cold , we sat and listened to another table complaining about their food and their disappointment in how the female staff where handling their complaint so I politely said to the young lad behind the bar that ours was always cold and I received a simple “ok” from him. We left feeling very disappointed and under appreciated for our custom over the weekend. Will not return unless improvements are made.

“Appalling” 16 May 2023 Hard to believe the fact that you expect hot food to be too much for them to handle! Read enclosed, in response to a complaint Date of visit: May 2023. I wrote a complaint about the manager who after I was asked if my food was ok (approx 30 min after finishing most of my food, I said yes but the side dish was too cold to eat. I was subjected to the manager telling me my expectations were too high?! I said, expecting hot food to be hot is too high an expectation?? Yes he replied. I wrote to the head office and the following is taken from their email: “the manager has banned you from this pub as you were abusive, this decision will not be overturned”. laughably, I was in the large hall when I spoke to him and I had family with me, I was not abusive, as others would have heard. I actually asked him to record the discussion to protect me and him. His attitude was unprofessional and uncalled for and I’d be interested to hear if the footage that actually recorded the conversation was submitted to the head office.. I would not recommend this place to anyone, there are better eateries with nicer staff nearby.
