Hotel les Sports - Deauville

Having just driven down from Calais, we were pretty starved but didn't want to eat a full blown meal nor spend a horse's ransom for lunch in one of the more popular haunts. Thought this was a simple bar but discovered it served everything from a simple salad to horse steaks. Our kind of place. Staff were great and theplace was full of locals which is always a good sign.

Deauville is not cheap, but this place gives you great value. We ate a handsome French breakfast here for 6.70 euros. Nearby they were changing almost double that for a poorer spread. this place is the genuine article great service, great grub and great price. Do not be overpriced for breakfast. Search out this place. It's just across from the market square and a terrific find.

We enjoyed a lovely lunch here with friendly service and a great value Formule just a moment's walk from the epicentre of Deauville. Highly recommend it!

Part of me is reluctant to admit to the existence of this place, which I found by mistake a few years ago. Unlike all the other chic and bijoux (and over priced) eateries in this upmarket coastal town, this unassuming gem near to the market turns out a great menu of freshly cooked French food. By 12.15 most days it's jam packed with locals and nearby workers who do what the French do best, enjoy a sociable lunch over a glass or two of wine. My daughter and I now come here every year for their hideously priced E13.50 formule lunch which, on our last occasion comprised a pate and salad starter, steak and chips for main and creme brulee for dessert, along with half a carafe of red and two baskets of bread. Try doing that in England and see how far you get. The staff are friendly and passionate about keeping their customers happy. This is the real Cafe Rouge. Authentic, fresh French cuisine at ludicrously affordable prices. Get their early.

Etonnant ce resto dans le centre de Deauville. Bon, on est plus du côté routier que top chef, mais justement, c'est ce que je cherchais, et c'est vraiment très bien. Une formule avec entrée (dont le pâté de campagne maison, très bon) plat (tomate farcie excellente et l'entrecôte/frite : délicieuse) dessert (crème brûlée) avec 1:2 de vin et2 cafés pour moins de 30€ : record à battre. Service très sympa : bref une adresse à garder.
