I ordered the steak and it was cooked to perfection. the chips were the best I ever tried. my wife ordered the lasagna pasta baker and it was delicious. the salat was fresh and the dressing was amazing. also the portion sizes are large. the new chef knows his craft there and I can't talk much about him. they need to print a lot more menus, but this is a small handle. I can see that they lose custom because people go when they don't find a menu. the welcome inn is a great place to go. if they were disappointed in the past, they give him another chance. very recommended! many thanks for a great meal!
The best meal by far of all the restaurants we’ve visited during our stay in Dawlish. Excellent service, even specially accommodating for fussy toddlers! All eight meals we ordered were faultless, delicious, very high quality food. Also an imaginative menu using local produce, generous portions and very reasonably priced. Would highly recommend and will definitely be returning.
New owners/management/Staff, well done!!! I went in last minute with my wife daughter on Easter Sunday, we were catered for on this busy day had a delicious meal (I had Madras curry with half rice half thick potato wedges, lovely) Even the young lady staff member taking 5 minutes to have her own evening meal, jumped up to grab my daughter a drink of water from the bar as the staff were busy. Much appreciated. Many thanks.
Great food at fair prices, portion sizes are really good! We will definitely be back.
A somewhat run down pub with little aspiration for future improvement. 5 meals staggered out from the kitchen over a ten minute time frame, all of a very average standard. The Jovial Welsh stalward seemed to forget me from my first visit to my second (3 hrs), although we had an interesting first conversation. If you're looking for a family meal in Dawlish this is OK if everything else is knee deep, otherwise leave it.
