Zhen's Corner - DARWIN CITY

Had popped into Zhen;s Corner not to be confused with Zhen's Kitchen for a quick dinner got a medium sized dinner for salt and pepper chicken steamed rice and mapo chicken and mixed vegetables. Whilst this may sound like a lot I actually had...to ask for more mapo as the amount given was less than a ladle full with a bit of veges and 5 little bits of chicken. There is nothing wrong with being a miser but ensure the rice is not dry and without any topping for a full 11.80. What was nice was that there were many Asian families enjoying the food.

Went there after work as I couldn’t be bothered to cook and it’s within walking distance to my place. Never been before and thought I’ll give it a go. Ordered the hainanese steam chicken and was very disappointed. The rice was on the dry side...and not flavoursome at all. Chicken itself was ok but it was drenched in a weird starchy bland light soy liquid and some vegetables. Was not appetizing at all. There was no chilli sauce or dark soy sauce or even the spring onion ginger oil sauce. Nothing to give it flavour. Tried a bite and couldn’t eat anymore and made instant noodles instead. Too say the least I wouldn’t even consider going back there again.

The food at this restaurant is excellent and the staff is very friendly. I highly recommend it to everyone!

I am on a quest to find the best laksa in Darwin and I found one today that I absolutely loved. My husband also enjoyed his Chinese meal. Definitely worth a visit!
