They had a great set lunch of pasta or pizza with drink at $10. As it is a sit down place, I think it is worth it. The food is delicious.
The Asian gentleman cooking should keep his hair to himself as it ended up in my pasta. The waitress couldn't speak English so my partner did not receive her main course. The restaurant redeemed itself by not charging for the hair affected meal.We generally enjoy the food there but this was obviously a bad night.Come on guys watch your staff and hygiene. We will be back as this is really a neighbourhood gem.
First found this pizza place in 2005, has since become a family favourite, i became sick in 2012 and do not get out at all like I used to, a week ago we all visited for lunch, and it all came back, first visit for over three years and easily the best pizza I have had in those three years, was great to be back, being lunch, sad not to see Danny, bit it is great nothing has changed
An early dinner before theatre - didn't look into it too much on the theory you can't get a bad meal on Victoria St. Surely? Wrong! After many years of taking a lead role in the selection of family eating spots both at home and abroad, I have been banned from restaurant choices on the basis of my selection of this place.Decor is 90's IKEA. Service was amateurish, even if they were being trained by the Italian (presumably) owner. Prices were middling. But the food.It was like eating in some foreign cuisine restaurants in the Middle East and Asia when you know the cooks have never set foot in the relevant country and likely never tasted the food.Bruschetta simply wasn't. Tomato and melted cheese atop soggy bread may be a dish somewhere but it is not bruschetta. I understand there are many variations of the classic formulation but I do not accept that it extends so far as to include this offering.Sun dried tomato pizza had to be eaten with a knife and fork because it was covered in red oil. Top and bottom.OK - the salad of lettuce and onion was alright although the cucumber was frozen.Mains of pizzas: BBQ meat lovers was almost a dessert pizza given that the sauce was sugary sweet - and the lumps of pork fat were not an attraction. The Acapulco was just ok - bar the saltiest of olives and the uncooked eggplant. My wife's spaghetti amatriciana was generous in its spaghetti portion but the sauce lacked any flavour other than a slight hint of chili. I don't mean to sound pretentious in saying it "lacked depth" but it was indeed very shallow in the flavour department.Bill was $88, it is BYO and corkage is $1.50 a person.I got the impression that this was a sort of handover to the new Asian owners. I could be completely wrong. But if this place was ever good. It is not now. There are many other eating options in Victoria Street, I suggest you avail yourself of them.
