The Downs Hotel - Darling Heights

Went for lunch with my friend I ordered a medium rare steak with veg and chips the steak was over cooked and tough my friend ordered braised lamb chops with veg both meals had pumkin beans and chips we waited a long time for both meals and they were both cold we did not enjoy the meals and we will not be returning.

Went to the Downs Hotel for dinner on Friday night, very poor variety of meals to choose from, not even the old favourite seafood basket ! My husband had a rump and salad, and the steak wasn't very nice at all. I had a chicken schnitzel and salad, very ordinary, don't think I will be visiting for a while!

Nice friendly hotel that was welcoming, we had a table that wasn't to noisy with pleasant surroundings and friendly staff.

Visited for lunch. One ceasar salad and one pumpkin salad took about 40 minutes. Pumpkin salad was massive and quite nice. Ceasar salad had very little dressing and the croutons were actually rock hard toast. The schooners of beer are certainly full price but it looks like the glasses are smaller than your normal schooner, could be deceiving though. All in all it wasn't bad.

You want friendly, relaxing and great food and service......go to the downs hotel. Small hotel with a big personality. Great manager means great staff. Meals are delicious and well priced. Good TAB, apparently off the beaten track, but don't be fooled. Put at top of your list.
