Potato Corner - Darby Township

Trying new places is my thing and when I saw a place that supposedly focuses on potatoes and is the world 's most famous flavored French fry franchise, according to their website, I figured I was in for a delightful treat. I may have put the cart before the horse here. It took me forever to find this, for lack of a better term, kiosk in the mall. Not having even seen one of these world famous potato places I was not sure how this worked, let alone what the menu consisted of. I kind of just stood there and tried to watch how things went here, but that did not lend me anything, I was still as clueless as when I finally found this kiosk. I finally went to the counter and decided to do a combo, but not a potato combo, a chicken combo. If you are world famous for your flavored potato products, why is there chicken? I might be focusing on the wrong thing, but that does play part in here. I went with the tender combo. You get three chicken tenders, a Mega size fry, and a medium drink. The price was there, and it seemed like you got a fair amount of food for the price. So here is when things started to go south. I finally made it to the counter and the young lady that is working seems less than impressed to be where she was at that moment in time. She talked in such a monotoned voice at such a low level I had to keep asking her to repeat herself. I lost count of the times she sighed, I had no clue how the ordering process went and she just would have rather been rolling on out of there for the amount of times she rolled her eyes. Now, I think that the employees here were fed up because they seemed to be short staffed. Also, either the manager or owner shows up and does nothing but have a conversation on the phone and paces back and forth in such tight quarters. Anyway, I finally get my food and make my way back to where I was staying. Get there and open up the box and think to myself this ought to be good. Well, it wasn 't. The chicken was basically flavorless. Which shouldn 't be a surprise since this place is supposed to be world famous for their flavored fries. I was like, OK, let me dive into them. Well, it was a disappointment to me. When you have your fries, you get a choice of six different flavorings that can be on your fries. I opted for the cheddar flavoring. Now, when they say flavoring, I assumed a coating on the fries that would shine through. Not the fries being encased in flavor. I mean no surface is left uncovered. The cheddar flavoring was not all that great, in fact it reminded me of the flavoring packet from a microwaveable mac n cheese bowl. They felt over-greasy and my fingers changed colors. World famous, maybe not. Philly famous, probably. But definitely not the best place I have ever had a fry at.
