To start with the good: The service and staff at Mangia Mi are wonderful and friendly. Drinks are good we ordered the house wine which was an extremely generous pour and what tasted like a good Merlot blend.Unfortunately, the rest of the meal was terrible, lacking in any flavor but salt. The Antipasto we ordered included housemade sausage, olives, and artichoke hearts. The olives were all green olives that had been cured in water brine extremely salty and tasted like they were from a can. I would have expected a range of different types of olive cured in olive oil and herbs. The housemade sausage was basically small chunks of salty ground meat that had been coated in breadcrumbs and deep fried. Again salt was the overriding taste, with little to distinguish the meat. The artichoke was non descript and tasted like it was bottled (which is fine). The Greek Salad was clearly made with quality, fresh greens. But it was drenched in a vinegary, salty dressing and coated with far too much feta. (Should have asked for feta and dressing on the side.)At the table we shared the all day bolognese. The papardelle pasta was clearly homemade and very good quality, but that 's where it ends. The sauce was clumps of ground meat in a very salty, oily, almost clear broth. There were but little flecks of tomato and no visible herbs to lend flavor. This dish as a whole was almost inedible.Perhaps the pizza is better, but needless to say we were sorely disappointed.
Service was bad, unfriendly attendant, too long to get the food. Forgot to bring the menu for dessert after asking for it. Table attendants were in Blue Jean and caps in a semi formal restaurant.Cloth table covers would have been a nice addition in an Italian Restaurant. Parking: Parking was fine.
Celebrated my wife's birthday with friends, had a great time. That said, the food definitely fell short.Had an appetizer of steamed clams, as well as the Burrata Prosciutto. Both were tasty, but the prosciutto was sliced too thick IMO, which made it hard to bite through with the burrata on a crostini.Wife and I shared a beet salad, it was on point.I opted for the Lasagne di Carne, while tasty, I had to send it back because it was barely warmed through. Wife had the Gnocchi Gorgonzola, and these were not very good at all. Dense and doughy, not the little pillows of delight one expects from a proper gnocchi. It was also a bit too gorgonzola forward IMO, very heavy.Dessert was the Cannoli and Butter Cake, the cake was absolutely fantastic, definitely the highlight. All in all the service was good, and we really enjoyed our time with friends. That said, I will not be in a hurry to return.
The atmosphere of Mangia Mi was very nice. We got a table outside, the weather was pleasant and scenery was nice. The food was not that great; the alfredo spaghetti didn’t have any flavor, but the springtime risotto was pretty good. All in all, an okay restaurant that we probably not come to again.
