The place was beautiful! There were plenty of picnic tables, grills, pavilions and trash cans. Large parties would be fine with amenities here. The staff at the food shop were nice. Fishing was okay from there but you have to be there very early because the party boats come in around 10:30 am and you can kiss the fish goodbye after that.
This morning we were the only ones on the creek. Rented a couple of single kayaks (1-person). $30 each for the 1st hour $15 for each additional hour. When I called on Monday I was told $25 for the 1st hour and $10 for each additional hour, but $30 was not bad. It was peaceful. We took a detour off the creek that was marked for kayaks and others, but I would not recommend it. The water was fresh at first but as we went along a film on top of the water got thicker and thicker and the scum started collecting inside the kayak. We thought we would be able to come back out into the creek but had to turn around due to the low limbs obscuring our way. After reaching the main creek, we continued out. We spotted Blue Jays, Woodpeckers, Egrets, Seagulls and heard cicadas or katydids.
What a gem this place is! This park is awesome and pet friendly. Finding an establishment with good food and beer was a plus. Unfortunately, we couldn't take part in any activities as it started to rain!
