Skylines Cafe - Daly City

On Saturday, July 13, 2024, my father and I were unexpectedly asked to leave this restaurant without any reason. I settled our bill at 9:57 PM, and an older woman, who I believe might be the owner or manager, verbally insulted my father, claiming it would take time to count the change. I explained to her that my father is a regular customer and that, due to his patronage, we have become regulars as well. I told the waitress at the counter that I am not someone who likes confrontation, yet she couldn't even meet my gaze, likely feeling embarrassed by the entire incident. Not only did I decide not to leave a tip because of the poor customer service, but I also made it clear that I will NEVER return to that location.

I ordered takeout from Skyline Cafe and got two very similar dishes: one was a pork cutlet served over rice and the other was a chicken cutlet over rice. I absolutely love their tomato sauce and how well it goes with the rice. My boyfriend also got their chicken soy sauce chow mein!

I absolutely loved it! The Hong Kong style milk tea was incredibly smooth and creamy. I really enjoyed the pan-fried filet as well.

The food here is tasty! The Chow Fun (flat rice noodles) is slightly greasy but quite filling. I also enjoyed the Porridge with Preserved Salted Pork and a century egg (black preserved egg); it was quite good. Their Deep Fried Garlic Chicken Wings are a personal favorite as well. Overall, everything was satisfying and filling—likely due to the grease—but still delicious, especially the Chow Fun. It might not be the healthiest option, but we all indulge sometimes. Parking is relatively easy to find late at night, unlike weekends when it becomes a struggle to secure a spot due to the area's popularity. The plaza seems to have more stores than parking spaces. The Skyline Cafe offers a convenient and affordable dining experience. Sure, it's a bit on the messy side and has some quirky decor, but that's to be expected from a dive like this.

Fantastic value for Chinese food! This became our go-to spot for takeout during the pandemic.
