I've visited several times, and I always order the pupusas, which come in a variety of flavors. They also serve excellent refried beans, rice, and plantains. Whenever I’m in Dalton, this is my go-to spot. It's a family-run eatery with a cozy atmosphere, and they often play Christian music in the background. Just thinking about it makes me hungry! Lol!
Hey everyone, just wanted to let you know that this place is OPEN and located behind Checkers on Cleveland Hwy. They have amazing pupusas and the BEST curtido! As a white guy, I can honestly say I really love this spot.
I ordered three types of pupusas, fried plantains, and a taco, all of which tasted fresh and delicious. The three pupusas and the taco would have been a satisfying meal on their own, although a meal consisting solely of pupusas might have felt like too much masa for me. I did notice that there were no alcoholic beverages on the menu, which was disappointing, as I think a beer would have paired perfectly with those pupusas. I live 25 miles away, so I won't be able to visit often. However, for locals looking to try something beyond the usual Tex-Mex, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit.
Good Find, Alex.. I tried this establishment last Saturday and was pleased. It is a lot different than our Mexican choices around town. I went simple and tried a pork pupusa, a chicken pupusa, and an azada taco. All were good, especially the taco. The cabbage that is served with it is a nice touch....and the sauce has a nice 'slow burn ' that appealed to my taste buds. The restaurant was clean and the service was good, considering their english was really broken, which is alright, because my spanish is really broken. I look forward to trying other entrees on the menu.
Open !!!. Well, something made me decide to go back by this place today. As it turns out, it is still open. However, the drink case IS still empty. Since I came by on a Monday and that is the day they are closed AND the drink case was empty AND the phone number was non responsive I thought the place was closed. It was clean and neat inside the restaurant. The service was efficient and informative too. Everything that we tried was good. The flavors are tame compared to Mexican food, but I found that to be a nice break, even though I still prefer Mexican food. The plantains might have been the favorite dish. The pupusas are very nice, with just enough meat and cheese fillings inside. We tried chicken, pork and spinach. I also had a steak taco. The meal is served with a cabbage dish and salsa which sort of reminded me of kimchee at Korean restaurants, although it had nowhere close to the spice or heat of kimchee. It was a nice complement to our meal.<br/ <br/ <br/ 27 Sep, 2011 <br/ <br/ Closed.... Unfortunately, this is another Salvadoran restaurant in the Dalton area that has closed before I got to try it. Oh well, I was really looking forward to sampling the food here. The drink case was completely empty when I stopped by today and the phone number is disconnected.
