I was told that the combo was unavailable after waiting 15 minutes. The chicken I did receive was greasy and undercooked.Served to me in a container full of grease. My family and I did not receive good service. This place also has roaches . As we were sitting at our booth roaches began to climb from the wall onto our table. This place is the worst ever. I want my moms 80.00 bucks back ! Never will we ever go back!
I've been eating with this family owned establishment since 1991. Their plates are now 16.99 plus. Sides by themselves are 5.00 plus. But when I ordered a side of chicken tetrazini it was 9.99. I don't understand. If the entree with 2 sides is 16.99 and sides are 5 plus each. The math ain't mathing. But prices are not that important if the food is good. I ended up leaving with peach cobbler. It tasted like ingredients were missing and the peaches were hard and crunchy and different colors. The crust was gummy and dry. I prayed I wouldn't get sick cause it was the worst I'd had in awhile. I was so disappointed. Back in June things were somewhat starting to change for the worse. The veggies were not very good. But my turkey wings were. So it's unfortunate but this place is not the same. This restraunt sits in an low income neighborhood also. So, the food could at least be worth the money. I think it's time to close your doors South Dallas Cafe.
I tried this restaurant for the first time and spent over $100 on four disappointing dinners. The Salisbury steak tasted like dry, flavorless hamburger meat, and the fried chicken was completely unseasoned. It's surprising that a place like this wouldn't know how to season chicken properly. The greens lacked flavor, and the cabbage was too spicy. To make matters worse, the staff had a bad attitude while serving this subpar food. I wouldn’t recommend wasting your time or money at this place. It's disheartening when it makes it difficult to support local businesses!
We visited last weekend and enjoyed the food so much that we drove nearly 300 miles again this weekend, bringing friends along to share the experience. However, we were disappointed this time, as everything we ordered had an unusual sour cream flavor. My cornbread stuffing tasted like sour cream, as did the macaroni and cheese and the broccoli rice casserole. On the upside, the atmosphere is pleasant, and the staff is friendly and professional. I’m not sure what went wrong with the food yesterday.
The staff was incredibly friendly and the service was outstanding. The food not only smelled amazing but also looked delicious. The portions were generous and definitely justified the price. It took me over an hour to drive home, but I couldn't wait to dig into my meal. We ordered the fried catfish and baked chicken, accompanied by sweet potatoes, greens, macaroni and cheese, and dressing. The desserts are an absolute must-try: German chocolate cake, peach cobbler, pecan pie, and a mini chess pie. This meal truly hit the spot; it was fantastic! It was definitely worth the drive from McKinney.
